Welcome
Professor Ross Leadbetter has been awarded a “honoris causa” degree by the University of Lisbon. The ceremony will take place 20 March 2013. This award was suggested by the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon and granted by the University to celebrate Professor Leadbetter´s contribution to extreme value theory and his profound effect on researchers in Portugal working in this field.
We use the awarding of this degree to Ross Leadbetter as an opportunity to organize a three day symposium on extreme value theory during 18 - 20 March 2013.
Extreme value theory is still expanding rapidly. Much interest goes to spatial extremes but extremes in finite-dimensional space is also in full development both with regard to theory and with respect to applications and this symposium will primarily address these issues.
We also hope that this get-together will also give opportunity to all our colleagues working in extreme value theory to join us celebrating professor Ross Leadbetters impressive achievements in this field by taking part in the official ceremony.
